                                             REFLECTION: UNIT 3

It was on January 4. 2023 another normal day for me when we discuss  the topic about Netizenship and Netiquette under Lesson 4 of this Unit. It was reported by one of my group member, Leah Regaspi. I think, she was able to smoothly deliver her part which captivated me and her topic was not that cliche but still interesting because it all about the ethics in the online world which is not known by most of us.

I extracted during the discussion, netizenship describes a person actively involved online communities or the internet general while the netiquette is all about the rules or codes of polite behaviors in the online world. When she presented her topic, one of the rules that caugth my attention is the rule “Respect others”. This one is absolutely easy to follow,  it can be applicable to everyone else but sometimes people tend to prioritize to choose to mock someone else for attention.I believe that we should treat others with respect even  if we just met them online because there are still humans that have emotions, they are can be hurt by mean word and acts or feel greatful when appreciated.  Nowadays, I’ve seen people mocking someones grammar and photos as if its like they like they are not shaming someone in public. Take a look an example of a wrong grammar caption of a person e in a social media app  instead, of privately messages it to correct, they just make fun of it and worst share it so others can see it. I realized that those rules are just easy as piece of cake to apply for their own good but for some people fame and attention is more heavier than morals if you weight it to a balance scale. There are rules of polite behavior in order to become a responsible netizen, to enjoy your existence in the online world without offending someone or ruining our reputation. “Pause before you post” a rule that is slowly fading in this generation, we all have the right to post what we want because we have this”my account ,my rules”- mindset, we can show our love in nature, love for our body and more but the most important thing to is to remember  that we should become sensitive when we post in social media. We should consider that some of our post shouldn’t be posted, there are also things that is too vulgar for children and they might see it because children this era are fond of gadgets.

Those rules did not exist  to become a party pooper  because the main objective of those implemented Netiquette is to bind us with rules of  conduct in order to become a better person in both digital world and global  world.
